College Scholarships
Each Spring, high school seniors residing in Jackson Purchase Energy’s service area are awarded college scholarships to be used at accredited Kentucky universities or community colleges. Interested high school seniors who qualify with a 3.0 or better GPA and a comprehensive ACT score of 18 or better are encouraged to contact their guidance counselors or Jackson Purchase Energy’s office for further information. Applications are available in February and Due back mid April. Applications are available on-line during the application time period.
Frankfort and Washington D.C. Youth Tours
Each spring, JPEC sponsors two high school juniors on a trip to Frankfort as part of Kentucky’s Rural Electric Washington Youth Tour. Students will learn how Kentucky government works by meeting with legislators, touring the Capitol Building and the Governor’s Mansion, and much more. In June, one of the two students will go on to represent JPEC in Washington, DC along with students form nearly every state sponsored by their local cooperatives. The Washington Youth Tour is coordinated through the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association. Futures Reference Guide
Jackson Purchase Energy is pleased to be one of the sponsors of Futures: Your Guide to Life After High School, a one-stop reference resource designed to guide teenagers and their parents in making important decisions regarding post-secondary education and career opportunities. Futures (which is in notebook form) can be found in area public libraries, college and vocational school libraries, adult education centers, and in middle and high school guidance offices.
