JPEC ANNOUNCES STABLE RATES FOR REMAINDER OF 2006

Jackson Purchase Energy held the company's Annual Meeting of the Membership Thursday, June 29, 2006, at the Luther F. Carson Four Rivers Center. During the meeting the results of the Board of Director's election were announced. The election was conducted by mailed ballot before the meeting and each of the four incumbents were re-elected for another four-year term.

JPEC's board is made up of eight members who are elected by JPEC customers. Elections are held in even-numbered years. Holding elections in even-numbered years saves JPEC ratepayers around $25,000 in years an election is not held.

District One board member Dr. Ivus Crouch and District Two board member Gary Joiner ran unopposed.

Bobby Ross of District Four received 1,150 votes. His opponent, William "Bill" Blanks received 545 votes.

In District Five, 1,043 votes were cast for John Walker and 700 votes were cast for John Myers.

The meeting included comments from the board as well as from G. Kelly Nuckols, JPEC President/CEO. During his remarks, Nuckols said, "JPEC has strived to cut costs and 'do more with less' and because of those efforts I can stand before you today and say there will be no rate increase for the remainder of this year. As we move into 2007, JPEC will make every effort to keep the low-rates you have enjoyed for the last several years." Since 1996 rates for JPEC customers have been reduced by an average of more than ten percent across all rate classes.

After the Annual Meeting of the Membership, JPEC's board met to elect officers to serve for one year. Gary Joiner was elected to continue as Board Chairman. Jack S. Marshall and Wayne Elliott were re-elected to serve as Vice-Chairman and Secretary/Treasurer, respectively.
