Jackson Purchase Energy Reschedules Planned Power Outage for Thursday Afternoon

May 17, 2017

Paducah, Ky. – Officials with Jackson Purchase Energy Corporation announce a change to the second planned power outage for member-owners in North Livingston County. A planned outage for maintenance to the cooperative’s infrastructure will be moved from Sunday morning, May 21, to Thursday, May 18. The outage will begin at noon on Thursday and is expected to last four hours.

“Severe weather is expected this weekend,” said Dennis Cannon, JPEC’s president and CEO.  “In the interest of reliability for our Livingston County member-owners, we are moving the maintenance work up to Thursday.”

“We realize that a daytime outage is less convenient, but the infrastructure in that area will serve our member-owners better if the maintenance work is completed before the severe weather occurs,” he continued.

The outage will affect approximately 800 members. All members who receive power from the cooperative’s Joy substation and those members who receive power from the Hampton circuit out of the Burna substation will experience the interruption. The affected area includes River Road, Cave Springs Road, Hampton-Joy Road, and Lola Road.

“Our member-owners have been very patient with this work.  We appreciate their understanding as we work to continue improvement of our system,” said Cannon.

JPEC members who have questions about the planned outage are encouraged to call the cooperative’s office at 270-442-7321 or 800-633-4044.
