Safety Coordinator (FT)

The safety coordinator provides leadership, development, administration, and supervision of activities required to safeguard the health and safety of all employees while ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations. This position is responsible for developing an annual safety plan for the company, for updating and checking accuracy of the appropriate SDS information, for compiling statistical data reflecting the company’s safety performance, and for keeping records on and issuing personal protective equipment. Inspects organization’s facilities to detect existing or potential accident hazards, determines corrective or preventative measures where indicated, and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented.

Education and experience requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in safety/loss control or related field preferred. Education requirements may be substituted with appropriate job-related experience.
  • Must enroll and complete NRECA’s Loss Control Internship.
  • Five to seven years’ experience in pole line and underground construction and/or as an instructor of safe work practices, along with experience relating to regulatory compliance issues pertaining to the utility industry preferred.

Must be able to work non-standard hours and/or extended hours beyond normal shift and during emergencies (e.g. evenings, weekends, holidays, etc.).  Must be able to travel, participate in designated training programs and maintain good attendance/punctuality record.  Successful candidate must live within a 30-minute drive to JPEC.

Apprentice Line Technician (FT)

Must have a high school diploma or a GED as well as documentation of successful completion of an accredited climbing program.  Prefer a 3rd or 4th year apprentice. Must be able to complete JPEC’s Apprentice Line Technician program. Must possess a Class “A” Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).   Must live within a 30-minute drive to JPEC. Must have a good aptitude for math and science.  Must have the physical ability for extended periods of standing, walking, lifting, bending, stooping, climbing, pushing, and pulling.  Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs.  Must have strong interpersonal communication skills and be able to communicate via radio and telephone with JPEC personnel.  Must be able to carry out instructions, meet work schedules and exchange work information as necessary to expedite workflow.  Must be able to deal with people under difficult circumstances.  Must be able to work in severe weather conditions, extreme heat and cold.  Must be able to travel, work overtime when necessary, and participate in designated training programs.  Candidate may be asked to demonstrate their ability to climb poles and perform work off hooks in addition to performing aerial lift work. Must be reliable in terms of attendance and punctuality.

Dispatcher (FT)

Seeking dispatchers to join our team. Ideal candidates must have strong interpersonal communication skills, ability to work under pressure, and be dependable. This position rotates between a 12 hour and 8 hour shift schedule (including holidays and weekends). Ability to communicate verbally with members in a courteous manner.  Ability to sit for a 12-hour shift and regularly lift up to 25 pounds.  Successful candidate must live within a 30-minute drive to JPEC, have a valid driver’s license, maintain good attendance/punctuality record, travel, and participate in designated training programs when necessary.

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent
  • Must have two years of experiences in the transmission, receiving, and relaying of electronic information for utility law enforcement, emergency medical, fire, emergency management, or military organization or as a multi-line telephone receptionist.
  • College education in relevant fields may substitute for the required experience (as outlined in above) on a 30 credit hours per year basis.

Line Technician (FT)

Seeking line technicians / journeyman linemen to join our team. The ideal candidates must have a high school diploma or a GED. Must have certification of completion of a JPEC approved apprenticeship program.  Must possess a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License. Must have the physical ability/agility for extended periods of standing, bending, pushing, pulling, climbing and lifting (up to 100 lbs.)  Must be knowledgeable of the National Electrical Safety Code; knowledge of RUS Specifications regarding line construction and maintenance, desirable.  Must have detailed knowledge of all safety requirements of the work being performed.  Must have experience in overhead and underground construction and maintenance.  Must be able to work in severe weather conditions (i.e. extreme heat and cold).
